Making a wish come true at Berehill House

We like to bring a smile to our residents. Adding a little joy to their everyday life is our privilege. At our care home, Berehill House, Michelle and her team went above and beyond to ignite a little spark and make a resident’s lifelong dream a reality.

Using the Anavo wish tree, resident Dee wrote down and hung the ultimate experience she wanted to tick off her life’s list. To meet the local fire brigade. Unbeknown to her, her wish was about to come true.

Collaborating with the Hampshire & Isle of Wight fire department, manager Michelle and her team arranged for Rich and his crew to pay Dee a little visit.

On 7th December 2023, Dee went to step outside the front door of the care home unsure of what to expect. The surprise and joy on her face was a picture and one to remember. Greeted by four firemen dressed in their uniforms with the backdrop of the fire engine made her day, week, month, year.

She not only got to meet them, but she got to ride in the cab, wear a firemen’s hat and try out the firehose too. Dee had a blast.

To round off the whole experience, the Rich and his team took time out of their busy schedule to have tea with her and answer questions she had.

What a day! That’s a memory both Dee and the staff at Berehill House will cherish forever.

This is just the first of many residents wishes to come true. More surprises are underway, so watch this space.
